2017 Dunstable Summer Concerts

The 2017 Dunstable Summer Concerts are kicking off next week!  You'll notice a few changes on the common this year so come on down and check it out!

One thing that hasn't changed: Our 'rain date' plan. If it rains on Wednesday evening, our usual concert night, we'll make it happen on Thursday evening (so long as Mother Nature cooperates!).

If you're on Facebook or Instagram be give us a follow us on Instagram ( @dunstablesummerconcerts ) and a like on Facebook. We'll also have our concerts posted with the events on Nextdoor Dunstable!

15th Annual Summer Concerts in Dunstable

The 2016 summer concerts are coming soon to Dunstable: We have familiar, returning and new bands in the line-up as well as fun events planned every evening!

Again, this year we have a 'rain out' plan. If it rains on Wednesday evening, our usual concert night, we'll make it happen on Thursday evening (so long as Mother Nature cooperates!).

Are you on Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram? Well so are we! Make sure you follow us on Twitter ( @01827Summer ) ; Instagram ( @dunstablesummerconcerts ) and on Facebook

So come on down to the common! Bring a picnic dinner or get let the Common Chef's do the cooking for you. But save room for dessert because we still have our "ice cream stand" - raising funds for future concerts!

14th Annual Dunstable Summer Concert Series

The 2015 summer concerts in Dunstable are underway on the common! Another great line-up of bands: returning favorites and new bands as well.

This year we have a 'rain out' plan. If it rains on Wednesday evening (or usual concert night) we'll make it happen on Thursday evening (so long as Mother Nature cooperates!).

Join us on the common: Bring a picnic dinner or get let the Common Chef's do the cooking for you. But save room for dessert because we still have our "ice cream stand" - raising funds for future concerts!

2014 Summer Concerts

Still recovering from that too-long of a winter?  Then come on down to the Town Common with your trusty lawn chair and park it for the Summer Concerts!
The 13th Annual Dunstable Summer Concerts on the Common Series kicks off this Wednesday, June 18th at 6:30 PM at the bandstand (across from the Town Hall).

We’re trying something new this year: In lieu of having a mid-August rain date, we’re going to have Thursday rain dates!  That’s right! If it rains on Wednesday evening we’ll postpone until the very next day!

You can also get last-minute announcements when you like our Facebook page.

The “Common Chefs” will be grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages & veggie burgers AND we’ll have our Ice Cream “Stand” every concert week!

See you on the Common!

July concerts & updates!

After a rain out on the 10th the July concerts were HOT! The Transistors brought their cool “Sounds of the Sixties,” The Hollis Town Band came all out with their big band (on Vehicle Night!) and then Brian Templeton put on THE BEST Blues performance we’ve ever seen in Dunstable!

More good news: We’ll be making up the rained out Kim Poesse Band concert – on August 17th at the Grange Fair.  It’s a Saturday afternoon concert so come on down to the Grange Fair, check out the winners under the tent then sit down and enjoy the show!

We’ve got two more Wednesday evening concerts: We have Matuto to play their Brazilian Bluegrass on August 7th and The Bel Airs will Doo-Wop their way back to Dunstable on August 14th

Here are some pictures from our July concerts:

Two Successful Concerts!

Our 2013 summer concert series is off to a great start! The Old Enuff To Know Better Band kicked off concert #1 to a Town Common packed with people – returning families as well as many new faces (so nice to see you ALL!)  Also back this year was a couple of adorable ponies and a dancing goat from Enchanted Animals (Groton, MA) for pony rides and petting. They’ve promised to come back to a few more concerts this summer!

Making the call for concert #2 was a difficult decision, but it was definitely the right one! The band went on right at 6:30 under ominous skies and a dreary rain. Twenty minutes later the rain had stopped and the sun came out!
The concert was sponsored by Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union and they came ready to share fun beach balls and Frisbees!  And during intermission we enjoyed a karate demonstration from a young group from the Neil Stone's Karate Academy.

We’re off this week so enjoy your Fourth of July holiday!

We’ll be back on July 10th with some country music for you from The Kim Poesse Band!
‘Till then enjoy some pictures from concerts 1 & 2!

See you on the common!

Summer 2013 Concerts

We’ve posted our Summer 2013 concert schedule so check out the bands; you’ll see some familiar names, recurring favorites as well as couple of bands that are new to us!

Of course it just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t kick-off the summer Concert Series with Dunstable’s own Old Enuff To Know Better Band as we will on Wednesday, June 19th. Also back by popular demand: The Transistors, rockers Rampage Trio, and bluesman Brian Templeton. And it’s been a few years but we’re happy to report that The Hollis Town Band will be back on July 24th. Since they were so well received last summer we’ll also be bringing back that Doo-Wop group we enjoyed so much – The Bel Airs!

In response to our survey last summer we’re bring a new country band – The Kim Poesse Band. We enjoyed their demo and are really looking forward to hearing and seeing them on the bandstand on July 10th – we hope you will too!
The other new band you’ll see this summer is an exciting group of musicians called Matuto. Their music is described as Brazilian Bluegrass and they come with rave reviews. They’re from New York and have played music festivals across the country and at venues such as The Kennedy Center.  How we got them to come to Dunstable? We’re still scratching our heads on that one! You can see Matuto FOR FREE on August 7th

Wrapping Up & Winding Down

I was on vacation last week and didn’t get a chance to post about our ‘Trash-to-Treasure’ and the band, Moving Sounds. Well it’s fair to say that we had yet another great Wednesday evening on the common!

Summer Concert volunteers watch over our Trash-to-Treasure table!
Local band, Moving Sounds.

And even though I was on vacation I made sure I made it down to the common in time to see that fab Doo-Wop band, The Bel Airs!

The Bel Airs concert was sponsored by Lowell Five

It’s hard to believe that we’ve had eight straight weeks of concerts and no rain (knock wood). It will be a Summer Concert first if we go without a rainout! Then again, this is the first year that we’ve had nine (yes, nine!) concerts scheduled! Our grand finale will be long-time concert favorite, Brian Templeton! Brian always has his harmonica and puts on an amazing performance of Blues and America Roots! If you haven’t yet made it to a concert this summer THIS is the one you CANNOT miss, and if you have been coming on down to the common, please join us again!

You Can Drive My Car

Someone commented on our Facebook page that “Vehicle Night” is their kids’ favorite night. I think it’s fair to say that it’s a favorite for a lot of adults too! It was another great evening on the common with kids exploring many of the town fire, rescue and police vehicles as well as quite a few other vehicles that can be spotted around town on any given day (trucks, tractors, old-timers and classics, and even a few muscle cars!). Of course the big question at the end of the night: Who won the most votes? Well, as usual, it was the big Dunstable Forms truck. (But I’m beginning to get a little suspicious of their popularity ;-)

We also had a band new to our concert series, Fab4Ever. They performed Beatles hits all evening long (well, until the mosquitoes started coming out)!

Coming up this Wednesday is another band that’s new to our concert series, Moving Sounds. And we’ll also have our famous Trash-to-Treasuretable! Don’t know what “Trash-to-Treasure” is? Well, come on down to the common and see for yourself!

"Rock & Ride"

The Wednesday July 18th concert could have been a rain out. But the point is, it wasn’t. The fantastic guys of The Rampage Trio say they have a special song that keeps the rain away so they sang that early on and continued to ROCK all evening! (Thanks, guys!)

A couple of ponies (and a really cute goat) from Enchanted Animals came to visit and give pony rides too.

Cindy and Coco of Enchanted Animals in Groton

Another great Wednesday is planned for July 25th. We’ve got a Beatles cover band, Fab4Ever, AND it’s Vehicle Night!

That Was A Perfect Concert: I'll have another, please.

Our July 11th concert was a perfect evening in so many ways: perfect weather, strawberry shortcakes, the RE/Max hot air balloon, and OF COURSE The Transistors!
It’s going to be tough to top that but we’ll try. On tap for this Wednesday we have another great band, The Rampage Trio AND pony rides! (Yay! Pony rides!)

See you on the common!

Strawberry Shortcakes!

Right now I am liking the looks of this Wednesday’s forecast: 86 degrees and clear! If it were any more perfect the winds will stay calm and we’ll have ourselves some tethered hot air balloon rides too!

We won’t have our usual ice cream treats this week but what we will have is another summer-time classic: Strawberry Shortcakes! (Yesssssss!)

Join us and The Transistors for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening in Dunstable.

See you on the common!

Making the Call

Despite the weather forecast “Chance of Rain” we pushed on and a good call it was for Strictly Overtime and everyone that came down to the common! The temps dipped a little but it didn’t stop the ice cream from selling or anyone from having a wonderful evening on the common. (Admittedly, I put on a light-weight jacket around 7:30!)

As always, thank you to everyone who came out to support the summer concerts.
We’re off next week for the Independence Day holiday, and then back to the schedule on July 11 with The Transistors when they get us up and dancing to the Sounds of the Sixties! (Oh why, oh how, do they do that to us year after year!?) And maybe by then the winds will settle down enough for tethered hot air balloon rides.

‘Till then… see you on the common!

Do You Like Your Concerts Hot?

It was quite possibly the HOTTEST concert we’ve ever had (and I don’t just mean the band!) and yet a wonderful crowd of Dunstable residents, neighbors and friends gathered on the common to see and enjoy our backyard favorite, the Old Enuff To Know Better Band! Kids stayed cool with water balloons and soaker balls (I think a few volunteers purposely put themselves in the line of water balloon fire, A-hm) and just about everyone had an ice cream!
Thank you to all of you who braved the heat and humidity on THE very first day of summer!
And a special thanks goes out to Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union for their continued support and sponsorship of our concerts!

This Wednesday, we’ll have attempt #2 at tethered hot air balloon rides while classic rock cover band Strictly Overtime entertains!

See you on the common!

Off to a GREAT start & more fun to come!

It was a Summer Concert first for us: A pre-summer performance that took place indoors! And wouldn’t you know it? After a rainy day the sun came out just before they began to play! The US Air Force Mach Four quartet was wonderfully entertaining, informative and 100% red, white and blue! With special thanks to the Dunstable Congregational Church for opening the doors to their Fellowship Hall - it worked out very nicely for all!
Coming up on Wednesday we have Dunstable’s own Old Enuff To Know Better Band, ice cream, t-shirts, kids running & playing and yes, quite possibly…. WATCH OUT for water balloons! And! And! And the Re/Max hot air balloon will be back (for attempt #2 in Dunstable) for tethered hot air balloon rides. Let’s hope for perfect weather AND calm winds this year!
See you Wednesday, on the Common!
