Two Successful Concerts!

Our 2013 summer concert series is off to a great start! The Old Enuff To Know Better Band kicked off concert #1 to a Town Common packed with people – returning families as well as many new faces (so nice to see you ALL!)  Also back this year was a couple of adorable ponies and a dancing goat from Enchanted Animals (Groton, MA) for pony rides and petting. They’ve promised to come back to a few more concerts this summer!

Making the call for concert #2 was a difficult decision, but it was definitely the right one! The band went on right at 6:30 under ominous skies and a dreary rain. Twenty minutes later the rain had stopped and the sun came out!
The concert was sponsored by Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union and they came ready to share fun beach balls and Frisbees!  And during intermission we enjoyed a karate demonstration from a young group from the Neil Stone's Karate Academy.

We’re off this week so enjoy your Fourth of July holiday!

We’ll be back on July 10th with some country music for you from The Kim Poesse Band!
‘Till then enjoy some pictures from concerts 1 & 2!

Summer 2013 Concerts

We’ve posted our Summer 2013 concert schedule so check out the bands; you’ll see some familiar names, recurring favorites as well as couple of bands that are new to us!

Of course it just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t kick-off the summer Concert Series with Dunstable’s own Old Enuff To Know Better Band as we will on Wednesday, June 19th. Also back by popular demand: The Transistors, rockers Rampage Trio, and bluesman Brian Templeton. And it’s been a few years but we’re happy to report that The Hollis Town Band will be back on July 24th. Since they were so well received last summer we’ll also be bringing back that Doo-Wop group we enjoyed so much – The Bel Airs!

In response to our survey last summer we’re bring a new country band – The Kim Poesse Band. We enjoyed their demo and are really looking forward to hearing and seeing them on the bandstand on July 10th – we hope you will too!
The other new band you’ll see this summer is an exciting group of musicians called Matuto. Their music is described as Brazilian Bluegrass and they come with rave reviews. They’re from New York and have played music festivals across the country and at venues such as The Kennedy Center.  How we got them to come to Dunstable? We’re still scratching our heads on that one! You can see Matuto FOR FREE on August 7th

Wrapping Up & Winding Down

I was on vacation last week and didn’t get a chance to post about our ‘Trash-to-Treasure’ and the band, Moving Sounds. Well it’s fair to say that we had yet another great Wednesday evening on the common!

Summer Concert volunteers watch over our Trash-to-Treasure table!
Local band, Moving Sounds.

And even though I was on vacation I made sure I made it down to the common in time to see that fab Doo-Wop band, The Bel Airs!

The Bel Airs concert was sponsored by Lowell Five

It’s hard to believe that we’ve had eight straight weeks of concerts and no rain (knock wood). It will be a Summer Concert first if we go without a rainout! Then again, this is the first year that we’ve had nine (yes, nine!) concerts scheduled! Our grand finale will be long-time concert favorite, Brian Templeton! Brian always has his harmonica and puts on an amazing performance of Blues and America Roots! If you haven’t yet made it to a concert this summer THIS is the one you CANNOT miss, and if you have been coming on down to the common, please join us again!

You Can Drive My Car

Someone commented on our Facebook page that “Vehicle Night” is their kids’ favorite night. I think it’s fair to say that it’s a favorite for a lot of adults too! It was another great evening on the common with kids exploring many of the town fire, rescue and police vehicles as well as quite a few other vehicles that can be spotted around town on any given day (trucks, tractors, old-timers and classics, and even a few muscle cars!). Of course the big question at the end of the night: Who won the most votes? Well, as usual, it was the big Dunstable Forms truck. (But I’m beginning to get a little suspicious of their popularity ;-)

We also had a band new to our concert series, Fab4Ever. They performed Beatles hits all evening long (well, until the mosquitoes started coming out)!

Coming up this Wednesday is another band that’s new to our concert series, Moving Sounds. And we’ll also have our famous Trash-to-Treasuretable! Don’t know what “Trash-to-Treasure” is? Well, come on down to the common and see for yourself!

"Rock & Ride"

The Wednesday July 18th concert could have been a rain out. But the point is, it wasn’t. The fantastic guys of The Rampage Trio say they have a special song that keeps the rain away so they sang that early on and continued to ROCK all evening! (Thanks, guys!)

A couple of ponies (and a really cute goat) from Enchanted Animals came to visit and give pony rides too.

Cindy and Coco of Enchanted Animals in Groton

Another great Wednesday is planned for July 25th. We’ve got a Beatles cover band, Fab4Ever, AND it’s Vehicle Night!

That Was A Perfect Concert: I'll have another, please.

Our July 11th concert was a perfect evening in so many ways: perfect weather, strawberry shortcakes, the RE/Max hot air balloon, and OF COURSE The Transistors!
It’s going to be tough to top that but we’ll try. On tap for this Wednesday we have another great band, The Rampage Trio AND pony rides! (Yay! Pony rides!)

Strawberry Shortcakes!

Right now I am liking the looks of this Wednesday’s forecast: 86 degrees and clear! If it were any more perfect the winds will stay calm and we’ll have ourselves some tethered hot air balloon rides too!

We won’t have our usual ice cream treats this week but what we will have is another summer-time classic: Strawberry Shortcakes! (Yesssssss!)

Join us and The Transistors for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening in Dunstable.

See you on the common!
