Record-breaking attendance

Amidst a record-breaking audience of approximately 500 area residents and some 40 vehicles on display for “Vehicle Night,” The City Council band put on a fantastic show featuring bluegrass, folk and acoustic music.

The weather was in full cooperation for another splendid evening on the town common.

The July 30 concert was sponsored by BAE Systems and by a very generous contribution made by General Woodworking (Thompson Family of Dunstable).

The Dunstable Farmers Market were represented on the Common again (and they’ll be back again next week too).

"Sounds of the Sixties"

At least 275 people were on the Town Common last night to take in the “sounds of the sixties.” The Transistors put on a lively show performing countless classic rock hits from the 60’s including at least one ditty that got a certain concert committee member AND a certain long-time town resident who puts out a certain-monthly-newsletter up and twisting. (You gals are lucky I’d already put my camera down “and you know what I mean.”)

The July 16 concert was sponsored by LowellFive, and by a generous contribution from the Dunstable General Store & Gas.

The Dunstable Farmers Market joined us on the Common (and they’ll be back on July 30 & August 6).

... and the Dunstable Knitters Group assisted with our ice cream sales.

Cool jazz on a hot summer night

There’s a saying about the weather in New England …. If you don’t like it wait 10 minutes.

Nothing could have been more true late yesterday afternoon as the scattered thunderstorms that had peppered the radar for most of the day parted for blue sky (and I’ve got the picture to prove it!) and dare I say almost refreshingly cooler temperatures.

(see, blue sky?)
In the crowd of approximately 175 young and old alike bounced and bopped to the jazzy sounds of The Trude Witham Group.

We are also grateful to have had The Dunstable Minuteman on hand to assist with our ice cream sales …and really how fun was it to see one of those militia guys swinging along to the jazz?! (Unfortunately that part of the show was over the minute I got my camera out !)
We also had our fundraising “trash-to-treasure” table.

The July 9 concert was sponsored by Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union.

1st Summer Concert: A+

What an excellent way to kick off the Summer Concert on the common… Perfect weather! Excellent attendance! (Estimated at 350) Good fun! (did you see that tub for blowing bubbles?!) And of course Dunstable’s own Old Enuff to know Better Band entertained and delighted the crowd of all ages!

The concert was sponsored by the Dunstable Cultural Council.

Activities for kids ... not just during this concert but ALL concerts this summer!

This was the cutest dog at the concert (of course I am a little biased ;-)

Show your support for the summer concerts

The summer concerts are less than one month away, but there's still time to get involved:

Volunteer your time … we are looking for individuals to assist with setting up and breaking down (chairs and tables) as well cleaning up after each concert.

Promote your group: We are also looking for Dunstable groups and organizations interested in promoting themselves and to scoop ice cream! This arrangement worked out favorably for some local groups last year who were able to publicize their group and their own upcoming events.

Donate an item or service… Got an item that’s nice enough to re-gift (but don’t want to feel the guilt)? Or can you offer a professional service? We could use it four our “Trash To Treasure” table. (Scheduled for July 9th and 30th).

Financial donations can be made to: Town of Dunstable / Summer Concerts and mailed to: Sue Tully, 348 Hollis St. Dunstable , MA 01827
