August 12 2009

The Rampage Trio played tonight under dark clouds but drove away any showers with their rock and roll with a bluesy edge.

This is the last Concert on the Common for this summer and was our original rain date. Despite a rainy start to the series, we had a great late July and August.

But like summer, the concerts too have to come to an end. We all thank everyone who have made the concerts possible, from those who set up tables, to those who staffed them and made a lot of people happy with books, raffle tickets, and ice cream. Don't forget the hard work of the Common Chefs, and the Mr. Horton's honey which is the very best. Most of all, all of you who came down and enjoyed the concerts inspired the musicians.

The Transistors play the Common August 5th

The Transistors returned to the Common with their classic rock and roll. A big thanks to the Dunstable Cultural Council for underwriting tonight's concert. Not only did many people take advantage of Trash to Treasure (all those yellow tickets!) but we had a big winner of two Red Sox tickets - Dunstable's own Ms. Judith Thompson! Big thanks to BAE Systems for this donation to the concert series and to all who supported the concert by buying a ticket.

Thanks to the Emergency Management team for setting up a table and sharing their Preparedness brochure.

Did everyone get a chance to peruse the honey for sale at the top of the field?

Don't forget - August 12th is the Concert Rain Date so summer isn't over yet!

Another rain out :-(

Many years from now we'll look back at this summer and... well, we certainly won't laugh; maybe we'll just sigh.

That said, we're looking forward to hearing some of that "Music from the 60's" when the The Transistors play next Wednesday eve right here on our Bandstand! It's got to happen! It's just got to!

Thanks to the Convenient Mann for sponsoring Wednesday's performance by the Hollis Town Band on the Common. It was a wonderful setting for the Hollis Band whose full sound really filled the open air. In white shirts and black trousers, and all that brass in hand, the Band looked as big as their sound filled the field. Their range of music ws appreciated by the crowd.

Big thanks to everyone who brought their vehicle to make Vehicle Night a success. If you did not get a chance to see the Fire Department's new Forestry truck, you need to check it out sometime at the station. And be looking for the new pumper/tanker soon. The Postal Service was generously passing out free postcards and all those vintage cars provoked memories of road trips and Sunday drives.

It was fun to take a stroll up onto the gazebo and look down on the band and see what our other performers see when they perform up there. Try it sometime before the bands set up and take a look. We are a handsome audience!

Miss the show? Take a look on Youtube .

See you next week to hear the Radio Kings.

Hollis Town Band Tonight!

Come on down Wednesday evening for a big night of music and more. The Hollis Town Band will be on hand to provide their wonderful musical performance.

And it will be Vehicle Night. Trucks, cars, really cool stuff.

The Common Chefs will make sure no one goes hungry. And those partial to Chocolate Eclairs will not go unsatisfied. Check out the Seniors table for gifts and novelties and buy a chance to win this year's quilt. We are close to fifty donations for two Red Sox tickets, generously donated by BAE so don't put off donating too long.

It should be a great night for everyone. See you there - 6:30PM on the Common.
